Try this brand naming strategy

What are ingredients you can use to make a great brand name?

These are the 3 key ingredients to consider:

Ingredient 1: Strategy

  • Meaningful: Is it relevant to your brand messaging, story and themes?

  • Adaptable: Is it flexible for future growth and product lines and doesn't lock you in?

  • Distinctive: Will it stand out in your industry from your competitors?

Ingredient 2: Creative

  • Memorable: Will this name stick? does it stay top of mind?

  • Sounds good: Does it roll off the tongue easily? Is it fun to say and hear?

  • Looks good: Do you like the look of the word and it's spelling?

Ingredient 3: Technical

  • Legally available: Have you checked your domain, business registration, social handles, Trademarks, etc?

  • Linguistically viable: Are you international, is your name offensive in other languages?

  • Easy to say and spell: Do people say the name differently? Will they be able to spell it and find you easily?

Tip: Use these ingredients to suit your own business recipe.

My favorite brand names are YouTube, Tony's Chocolonely, Groupon, Too Faced Cosmetics, In-N-Out Burger, GoPro, and I could name more. These are all memorable and have a clever combination of words or double meaning.

Have you found the perfect name for your new company? Don't be afraid to check out the competition, or even look at names outside of your niche.
