When you work with me on your brand identity or a poster design for example, I will send you several files after we finalize the designs. But what are those designs?
Final files can be a little confusing if you’re not used to the document types that are sent through. So, I have put this blog post together to help you understand them a little better!
PDF files are the files you'll receive for your print items! Most manufacturers prefer this type for printing. The file will be in CMYK for print and RGB for online use.
.PNG
PNG files are pictures with a transparent background. You'll receive this file type for your logos. Simply apply them on top of any images you would like watermarked!
.JPEG
JPEG files are the files you'll receive for online use. You will receive them in the perfect format for social media or your website.
.AI
This is an Illustrator file. Illustrator is an Adobe program that works with points instead of pixels. This basically means you can make the design as big or small as you want without jeopardizing the quality. Everything in this file can be edited, from the shape to the colors. Manufacturers can sometimes ask for this.
.EPS / .SVG
These file types are VECTOR files and are usually the file types for logos. These are essential if you are looking to get anything large scale printed such as signage or billboards. Like Illustrator files, they can be sized up infinitely.
Manufacturers are all different and sometimes require different documents, so I am always flexible and happy to send through any extra files you find yourself needing.
